Why Choose Nursing

Consider the work nurses do, compare diploma and degree routes, and learn about studying at Prashant Nursing Training School & College.

Nursing combines patient care with observation and communication

Nurses care for patients, observe changes in their condition and work with healthcare teams. The work includes supporting treatment, explaining care to patients and families, and keeping care records. Consider whether you want a course centred on these responsibilities.

Nursing extends from hospitals to community services

Nurses work in hospitals and community health services. Nursing education involves teaching and guiding students. Nursing administration involves coordinating care, staff and services. Teaching roles depend on the required qualifications and experience. Students have taken part in a health camp, a cleanliness drive and health-education home visits on hand hygiene. These activities help you understand how nursing includes prevention and health education as well as care during illness.

Diploma and degree routes have different entry points

GNM, or General Nursing and Midwifery, is a diploma. B.Sc Nursing is a degree. Post Basic B.Sc Nursing is a degree programme for GNM holders. Each route combines nursing study with practical training. Your existing qualification determines which entry requirements you should read before choosing a programme.

Which route fits you

Use your current qualification to choose the route before comparing course durations. Check the subjects required and the eligibility conditions for the course. The admission office can help you understand which requirements apply to your qualification.

  • After Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English: B.Sc Nursing, 4 years, degree.
  • After Class 12: GNM, 3 years, diploma. Call the admission office for subject requirements.
  • After GNM: Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, 2 years, degree.

Read the course page for the full eligibility requirements before applying.
